The lighting in the South Parking Garage at Allen Event Center has aged and suffers from reduced functionality as well as shorts and broken conduit. The waterproofing has been compromised and allows rain to get into the fixtures, further compromising the system operability. An Electrical Engineering firm was contracted to provide construction specifications for the project in 2019.  After further investigation, a new design was produced which will replace the entire lighting system to match new energy efficiency and  lighting standards. The conversion to energy efficient LED lights will decrease both electricity consumption and maintenance costs at the facility along with providing a safer environment for garage users. On March 25, 2021, seven (7) bids were received and five (5) bids were responsive. The three lowest and responsive bids are below:

This project will be funded with FY19 Tax Notes, approved by the Allen City Council on July 9, 2019. The project was listed in the recommended projects.

Staff recommends that the City Council Award Bid and Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract with Eco Engineering, Inc., for Allen Event Center South Parking Garage Lighting Replacement in the Amount of $403,323.
