Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Change Order with Duro-Last, Inc., for Roof Replacement at the Allen Event Center in the Amount of $56,966.52.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:

On August 13, 2019, City Council authorized the City Manager to execute a contract with Duro-Last, Inc., in the amount of $1,500,000 for a roof replacement at the Allen Event Center.     

ACTION PROPOSED:

Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Change Order with Duro-Last, Inc., for Roof Replacement at the Allen Event Center in the Amount of $56,966.52.




BACKGROUND

In May 2019, a hailstorm caused significant damage to the Allen Event Center roof.  On August 13, 2019, City Council authorized the City Manager to execute a contract with Duro-Last for roof replacement at the Allen Event Center.  Duro-Last has completed the roof replacement and Texas Municipal League (TML) has reimbursed the City of Allen for the roof replacement. TML's original estimate was from Tailored adjustments and that was what the claim was paid off of.  

 

On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, Duro-Last issued a Change Order Request for additional work in the amount of $56,966.62. TML approved the work to anchor "non-penetrating" U-1400 lightning protection and to furnish and install a Duro-Last protection membrane. The project cost change has been sent to TML on the original insurance claim to obtain approval for extra funds on the file. These funds will be sent to the City of Allen from TML at the conclusion of the project.


BUDGETARY IMPACT

Funds will be reimbursed by TML to the City of Allen.


STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a change order with Duro-Last, Inc., for roof replacement at the Allen Event Center in the amount of $56,966.52.
