| | | | | | | | ACTION PROPOSED: | Award Bid and Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract with Mart, Inc., for Fire Station #5 Parking Lot Restoration in the Amount of $121,686. |
|
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
Fire Station #5 and it's parking lot were constructed in 2012. In the past couple of years, the parking lot at Fire Station 5 has experienced shifting in the pavement. Staff engaged a geotechnical firm to investigate the cause and provide a solution. It was discovered that the base material under the pavement has subsided, and the rainwater cistern under the parking lot is leaking and a contributing factor. This contract work will proceed to follow the recommendation of the geotechnical engineer, remove the cistern outright, bring in fill material, and replace with concrete pavement. Given the leaks that have developed in the cistern, it is not being used for irrigation for the fire station site any longer.
A Request for Bid (RFB) process was used in acquiring pricing for this project. One (1) proposal was received. Even though only one bid was received, the proposal was within the range expected for this extensive amount of work, given the extent of excavation and sensitivities associated with working in such close proximity to a working fire station. The only responsive proposal is listed below.
