Ridgeview Drive is a major arterial roadway running parallel to SH 121 from East to West of the city limits.  The development community has shown interest in turning the vacant track North of Ridgeview Drive between Chelsea Blvd and US75 into a mixed-use property, requiring the need for connectivity.  TxDOT is also re-designing the interchange of US75 at Ridgeview Drive, which will allow improved mobility on US75 corridor.

This design contract will develop plans for a 2- or 4-lane roadway on Ridgeview Drive from Chelsea Blvd to US75. The estimated 4-lane cost option is anticipated to be $3.6 Million.  The design will account for the ultimate six-lane divided thoroughfare (in accordance with the Master Thoroughfare Plan), which will be constructed when warranted.  Consequently, the design will include a widened median, so that additional lanes can be constructed in the future, as has been our custom with other thoroughfares built in recent time.  This improvement will serve as the final thoroughfare segment to provide a continuous connection of Ridgeview Drive through Allen City Limits.

Requests for Qualifications were received in October 2018 and evaluated by a team of City staff for various categories of engineering professional services.  This process generated a shortlist of qualified Engineers, in which BW2 has been identified for Roadway Services.

Funding for the project is GO Bonds and Collin County Bonds.

Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a Professional Services Contract with BW2 Engineers, Inc., for the design of Ridgeview Drive from Chelsea Boulevard to US75 in the amount of $261,500.
