The federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act ("CARES Act") established the Coronavirus Relief Fund to be used to make payments to States and certain local governments for Covid relief efforts. The Collin County Commissioners Court has allocated a portion of their funding for housing and living assistance to residents of Collin County.
The County is partnering with the four CDBG entitlement cities (Allen, Frisco, Plano, McKinney) to administer the assistance. Each city has allocated a portion of funding specifically for a food assistance program. This program will provide food cards to eligible residents. To streamline implementation and administration of this program, the City of McKinney will administer this effort for the entire County. Allen will transfer its portion of the food assistance funding, which is $525,000, to McKinney to implement through the public service agencies. The public service agencies will provide the food cards to eligible residents in coordination with the housing assistance. This ILA is required to facilitate that process.
