The sport of cricket has been a demand within the community for some time.  In more recent years there has been a significant increase, evident with usage at the only non-official, temporary field space at Suncreek Park. This was the only site that was available within the park system.  Unfortunately, limitations in field space, parking and other support services at this site created hardships and undesirable conditions for players and patrons adjacent to the park. 

With growing demand and known limitations, the City Parks and Recreation Department knew the best location for such a field would be Spirit Park.  Additionally, with regular disruptions in play at Suncreek Park, from the North Texas Municipal Water District, staff determined it was time to pursue a permanent home for the sport of cricket.  Through negotiations, the City was able to obtain funding support from North Texas Municipal Water District to assist in relocating the field use to Spirit Park, which would be beneficial to all. 

With support for the efforts, park staff quickly prepared a design package that would facilitate such improvements at Spirit Park.  The City received overwhelming interest in the project resulting in obtaining twelve qualified bids.  Central North Construction, LLC, is the lowest qualified bid and is included within this award and authorization.    

Funds are available in Parks' CIP Project PR2001, totaling $375,000.00 as follows:
