| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
As walking patterns fluctuate, modifications to the school zones are periodically needed. Engineering staff has determined that extensions of the school zones on Shelley Drive and Water Oak Drive are needed to enhance safety for walking children and provide more intuitive limits for the school zone.
The Traffic Safety Advisory Committee met in December to discuss resident concerns regarding this school zone and support this action. The school zone locations are described in the attached Ordinance and location map.

The marginal expenses (signage costs) associated with this project will be absorbed by the FY20 Traffic Operating
and Maintenance Budget.

Staff recommends adopting an Ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 9 - Motor Vehicles and Traffic, Section 9-137(b), in order to expand the school zone for Chandler Elementary.
