|
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
Rolling Hills Park is twenty years old this year, and has been in desperate need of repair due to a retaining wall failure which caused closure of the park in 2017. In a separate action, not related to the closure, 2.9 acres of property to the south became available, which the City purchased in 2017. This was done only after a public meeting was held and a consensus of the residents was received to move forward with the purchase.
DCBA recently completed master plan efforts for the expansion, which was positively received at a second public input meeting held on August 12, 2019. In addition to input on the site amenities and conceptual layout at this meeting, staff also received positive input concerning the closure of Glenwick Drive, which will improve safety concerns for vehicular traffic entering the frontage road of Hwy 75. With this closure, the existing park property will be combined with the recently purchased park property, creating over 3 acres of usable park acreage.
DCBA will provide Design Development services for Rolling Hills Park which will include documents for final review by the Allen Parks and Recreation Board. This includes the development of bid specifications and bid tabulation for bidding purposes following approval by the Allen Parks and Recreation Board.
