Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract with Reynolds Asphalt and Construction Company for Construction Services for Various Asphalt Street Rehabilitations in the Total Amount of $103,050.

ACTION PROPOSED:

Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract with Reynolds Asphalt and Construction Company for Construction Services for Various Asphalt Street Rehabilitations in the Total Amount of $103,050.




BACKGROUND

The systematic repair and replacement of aging, cracked, and failing pavement is part of our ongoing maintenance program. This project is for rehabilitation of the asphalt streets on Belmont Drive (Allen Drive to Austin Drive), Boyd Drive (Allen Drive to Austin Drive), and Butler Drive (Boyd Drive to Main Street) located in the Central Business District (CBD).

 

The City Manager has executed an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Grand Prairie allowing the City of Allen to utilize contracted pricing as bid and awarded by Grand Prairie. This agreement allows the City of Allen to utilize Reynolds Asphalt and Construction Company as a contractor to make street repairs. On April 9, 2019, a proposal was received for this project from Reynolds Asphalt and Construction Company to provide the services.


BUDGETARY IMPACT

The contract will be funded by 2019 Street Operational Funds.


STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Reynolds Asphalt and Construction Company for construction services for various asphalt street rehabilitations in the total amount of $103,050.
