In order to keep pace with the ever-increasing demand for wastewater treatment, the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) has developed the Rowlett Creek Parallel Trunk Sewer Extension Project to convey additional wastewater treatment flows for Collin County, including the City of Allen. This new project will parallel an existing 27-inch gravity sewer with a new 36-inch gravity sewer and will allow for additional capacity and relieve surcharge conditions on the upstream portion of the pipeline.
The project will begin at an existing manhole northwest of Alma Drive and terminate near U.S. Highway 75, impacting both Suncreek Park and the Courses at Watters Creek. Impacts to the Courses at Watters Creek are minimal as NTMWD was able to locate the main north of the course and construct temporary fencing to shield the course and there will be no loss of play. Potential revenue impacts have been addressed and restoration will also include a new split rail fence along the easement line. In Suncreek Park, the park itself along with the existing cricket field will be impacted by the construction. Negotiations with NTMWD include funds to assist the City in constructing an alternate cricket field and permanent cricket pitch at the newly opened Spirit Park. This will allow existing cricket teams to continue play without disruption and loss of use.
