Authorize the City Manager to Purchase Upgraded Parts and Services for Storm Sirens from Acoustic Technologies, Inc. in the Amount of $140,000.

ACTION PROPOSED:

Authorize the City Manager to purchase upgraded parts and services for Storm Sirens from Acoustic Technologies, Inc. in the amount of $140,000.




BACKGROUND

The software that controls the Storm Siren network in the City of Allen needs to be upgraded from Analog to Digital technology. In addition, the current activation software requires technology upgrades. The current software technology is reaching the end of its useful life. The actual storm siren hardware (poles, speakers, etc.) remain functional and will not be replaced. These software enhancements will allow for better service to the Citizens of Allen in the event of Emergency.


BUDGETARY IMPACT

The funding for this project was approved in the FY19 Budget and will be paid for out of Capital Replacement funds.


STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that City Council authorize the City Manager to purchase upgraded parts and services for Storm Sirens from Acoustic Technologies, Inc. in the amount of $140,000.

I make a motion to authorize the City Manager to purchase upgraded parts and services for Storm Sirens from Acoustic Technologies, Inc. in the amount of $140,000.
