| | | | | | | | ACTION PROPOSED: | Authorize the City Manager to Purchase Replacement Hydraulic Rescue Tools and Associated Equipment for the Fire Department from Advanced Rescue Systems in the amount of $153,140. |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
The Hydraulic rescue tools used by the City of Allen Fire Department are being replaced and updated to better serve the citizens of Allen. New materials technology in vehicles has left our current rescue tools unable to cut the metals that are found in newer vehicles. In addition, the newest generation of tools are battery operated and are capable of being deployed faster.
| | | | | | | | BUDGETARY IMPACT
This project will be paid for out of Texas Ambulance Supplemental Payment Program (TASPP) funds. These are federal funds administered through the State of Texas and available to eligible organizations to help cover the shortfall of Medicare covered ambulance transport services. The Allen Fire Department has a TASPP fund balance adequate to cover the entire cost of the Hydraulic Rescue Tools and they are an eligible expense under this program.
