BOARD / COMMISSION ACTION:

On September 4, 2018, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted 6 in favor (Commissioners Trahan, Platt Jr., Orr, Autrey, Metevier, and Ogrizovich) and 0 opposed to recommend approval of the request.

ACTION PROPOSED:

Conduct a Public Hearing and Adopt an Ordinance to Amend the Development Regulations of Planned Development No. 73 Shopping Center Generally Located South of Stacy Road and West of Andrews Parkway. [Allen Event Center - Signage]




BACKGROUND

The property is generally located south of Stacy Road and west of Andrews Parkway. The properties to the north, east (across Andrews Parkway), south, and west are zoned Planned Development No. 73 Shopping Center.

 

The property is currently zoned Planned Development No. 73 Shopping Center. The applicant is requesting to amend the Development Regulations for the Allen Event Center by amending the Sign Schedule to authorize the installation of two Identification Signs with Electronic Message Boards in conformance with the attached Elevations and a Location Map.

 

The Sign Location Map shows the proposed locations of the two additional Identification Signs proposed with this amendment. Sign A4 is proposed along Andrews Parkway, and Sign A5 is proposed along the south side the of Allen Event Center near the pedestrian access from the parking garage.

 

The Elevations and Sign Schedule show the proposed specifications of the signs. Sign A4 (located along Andrews Parkway) is proposed to be 26 feet tall with an overall structure area of 501 square feet. The proposed copy area for Sign A4 is 130 square feet. Sign A5 (located along the pedestrian access from the parking garage) is proposed to be 26 feet tall with an overall structure area of 364 square feet. The proposed copy area for Sign A5 is 107 square feet.

 

The Planned Development Amendment request has been reviewed.

 

On September 4, 2018, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the request.
