Project Description: Arising from a routine staff inspection of the sanitary sewer mains, a damaged section of sewer pipe was located at an aerial crossing of a tributary of Cottonwood Creek near Allen Heights Drive and Bethany Drive. Given the urgent need to repair, the City Manager authorized the requisition as an emergency so that immediate repairs could commence. The ability to secure best value through the Cooperative Purchasing Contract enables city staff to rely on established unit pricing with the contractor. Because the expense is greater than $100,000 in value, the expense requires ratification by the Allen City Council.
Project Support: The repair involves applying an internal lining and an external wrap to the pipeline, which is suspended over the creek (e.g. aerial crossing). This is a customary strategy for a repair of this type and will provide a permanent fix to prevent the potential of storm water getting into and sewer water getting out of this section of the main.
Construction Contract: The Insituform Technologies, LLC proposal utilizes Local Government Purchasing Cooperative Contract #555-18 administered through BuyBoard and includes furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, and services necessary to repair the sanitary sewer line.
