The attached ordinance amends Chapter 6 "Health
and Environment" by amending various portions of Section 6-235 "Amendments to
the Texas Food Establishment Rules" and amending portions of Section 6-242
"Permits and Inspections" related to the issuance of permits and conduct of
inspections to allow for provisions to permit mobile food vendors.
These
proposed amendments to the Environmental Health Ordinance are primarily related
to Mobile Food Establishments (food trucks). These amendments ensure that
the health regulations correspond with the proposed amendments to the
ALDC. Specifically, these amendments ensure that definitions are
consistent, permitting procedures are consistent, and unintended discrepancies
are avoided. In addition, this amendment includes a couple of minor
clarifications regarding requirements for the construction of restaurant floors
and ceilings.
The proposed amendments have gone through
a review and refinement process with participation from City Attorney's office.
