| | | | | | | | | PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: | On September 26, 2017 City Council authorized the City Manager to purchase Traffic Signal Controllers from Consolidated Traffic Controls, Inc., through the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) Cooperative Purchasing Agreement in the amount of $252,450.
On November 14, 2017 City Council authorized the City Manager to execute a contract for Traffic Signal Communication System Replacement with Scientel Solutions through the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) Cooperative Purchasing Agreement in the amount of $185,000.
On January 23, 2018, City Council authorized the City Manager to purchase traffic signal ethernet switches from Pivot Solutions, North America, Inc. dba Sigma Technology Solutions, Inc. through the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Cooperative Purchasing Agreement in the amount of $89,857. |

| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
This item is a continuation of the Engineering department's efforts to upgrade and enhance the City's traffic signal network. This authorization is to purchase 3 uninterrupted power supply (UPS) backup batteries and 3 signal cabinets with breakaway bases. The UPS batteries ensure that a signal will maintain operation during power outages. The three signal cabinets and breakaway bases are part of the ongoing Signalized Intersection Improvement project and will replace existing cabinets that are obsolete.

Funding for this purchase will come from Series 2017 General Obligation Bonds, already issued for Signalized Intersection Improvements.
