The current Trail Master Plan was developed in 2001 by Mesa Design Group.  In 2001, the City of Allen had 12 miles of existing Hike and Bike Trail with an estimated 67.5 total miles of Hike and Bike Trail at build out.  Since 2001, a total of 65.7 miles of Hike and Bike Trails have been constructed.  Because of development changes over the years and increased interest in Hike and Bike Trails in the North Texas area, the City Trail Network has grown to an estimated 96 total miles of trail at build out.  The city trail system has out-grown the existing Trail Master Plan; therefore, an updated Master Plan is needed.

This project is to be funded through Trail Funds allocated by the Allen Community Development Corporation.

Staff recommends authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Halff Associates, Inc. in the amount of $58,750.00 for Landscape Architectural Consulting Services for an update to the Citywide Trail Master Plan.
