ACTION PROPOSED:

Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract with Musco SportsLighting, LLC in the Amount of $117,943 for the Construction of Reed Park East Tennis LED Lighting.

BACKGROUND

Reed Park East is located at the corner of Allen Heights Dr. and Rivercrest Blvd. The park is currently under construction for renovations approved by the City Council on September 12th, 2017. During construction it was found that the tennis court lighting no longer meets existing electrical codes and must be updated.

The construction plans are for a turnkey project that includes removal of the existing lights, installation of 4 new LED light poles, security lighting, control link system, push button activation, full engineering, and upsize of electrical for future lighting needs.

Funding, Bidding for Construction

Local Government Code, Chapter 271.102, authorizes a local government to participate in a cooperative program with another local government or a local cooperative organization.  The Texas Local Government Code permits cooperative agreements between local governments for the purchase of goods and services and satisfies the requirements of local governments to seek competitive bids for purchase of such goods and services through supplier contracts.

The lighting and installation services will be purchased through a BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Agreement.

The project will be funded with Park Dedication Fees. A final proposal with the utilization of BuyBoard was received from Musco Sportslighting, LLC on November 9, 2017 for the demolition of the existing lights and installation of a new lighting system, and is summarized in the table below:
