The Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Fund Committee has recommended the purchase of twenty-four (24) vehicles to replace existing vehicles that have reached the end of their service life.  Those purchases will be funded through the Replacement Fund.

Through the budget process, an additional fourteen (14) vehicles have been identified as  needed for the Police Department, Parks and Recreation, Community Development, Community Services and Engineering.  Those vehicles will be funded through the appropriate departmental operating budgets.

All items are included in the approved Fiscal Year 2017-2018 budget.  The attached summary shows the details regarding the type of vehicles and equipment included in this purchase.

Funding for these purchases has been budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Vehicle Replacement Fund, Police, Parks and Recreation, Community Development, Community Services, Engineering, Risk Management, Water and Sewer and Drainage Funds.

Staff recommends the City Council authorize the City Manager to purchase thirty-eight (38) vehicles and two (2) equipment replacements for various City of Allen departments from Silsbee Ford, Reliable Chevrolet, Southwest International Trucks and Landmark Equipment through BuyBoard and Tarrant County Cooperative Agreements in the Amount of $1,573,543.
