| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
Trail construction is an ongoing effort in the City of Allen. The Watters Trail Connection Project will provide a critical link in the overall Watters Trail System. This segment generally consists of approximately 1,500 linear feet of 12' wide multi-use concrete trail along the Watters Creek corridor and Stream 2F1 corridor. The limits of this project generally follow along the east side of Watters Creek from the end of the existing trail north of Bethany Drive to the end of the existing trail at the south side of the Hidden Creek Apartments. In addition, a connecting trail is also proposed that connects to the existing sidewalk on the west side of Watters Road, just north of Stream 2F1. (See map for more detail.) Various additional improvements will be required for this specific section of concrete trail including a pedestrian bridge over Stream 2F1 and other various improvements. (A rendering of the bridge is also attached.)
On June 8, 2017, the Purchasing Division solicited four hundred eighty-eight (488) vendors and received three (3) responses to Bid # 2017-4-68. Staff believe it is in the best interest to award to the lowest and most qualified bidder, North Rock Construction, LLC, who met the specifications for this project for a total of $595,143.
