Authorize the City Manager to Purchase One Bucket Truck from Grande Truck Center through the Buyboard Cooperative Purchasing Agreement in the Amount of $107,019.

ACTION PROPOSED:

Authorize the City Manager to Purchase One Bucket Truck from Grande Truck Center through the Buyboard Cooperative Purchasing Agreement in the Amount of $107,019.




BACKGROUND

The Traffic Division of the Engineering Department utilizes a bucket truck to maintain traffic signals, overhead signage, hang banners, or perform other tall-reach tasks. The department currently only has one bucket truck (2009 model), shared between two crews.

 

The purchase of this additional truck will enhance work response, allowing staff to mobilize two trucks to dispatch two crews separately or to the same location, as needed. The purchase of the new truck will also extend our reach (taller truck) and allow postponement in retiring the current truck (extend life of current asset).


BUDGETARY IMPACT

Funding for this purchase is included the FY2017 operating budget for the Engineering Department.


STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager to purchase one Bucket Truck from Grande Truck Center through the Buyboard Cooperative Purchasing Agreement in the Amount of $107,019.
