ACTION PROPOSED:

Adopt an Ordinance Changing the Name of "Venture Drive" to "Guardian Way."


BACKGROUND It was recently announced that NetScout Systems will be occupying a new 145,000+ square foot office building with over 500 employees on Venture Drive in Watters Creek Office Park. The company previously indicated that the renaming of Venture Drive to Guardian Way would positively influence their relocation to Allen. Staff is recommending to rename Venture Drive to Guardian Way. The term "Guardian" refers to one of NetScout's technology products. The GIS Division of Information Technology will notify the Collin County Appraisal District, Mapsco, and other necessary agencies of the change.


BUDGETARY IMPACT Staff anticipates no budgetary impact. The existing budget for the Traffic Division of the Engineering Department is sufficient to fund the cost of sign replacement in the public right-of-way.


STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the City Council adopt an Ordinance changing the name of "Venture Drive" to "Guardian Way."
