| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
In order for property owners within a community to be eligible to purchase federally-guaranteed flood insurance for the protection of property located in flood prone areas, a community must be a participant in the National Flood Insurance Program, which requires the adoption of regulations regarding the development of property within flood prone areas.
To remain a participant in the National Flood Insurance Program, the City must adopt FEMA's new flood insurance rate maps and update floodplain management regulations. The attached amendment makes the City's regulations compliant with FEMA's requirements.
