The department tested the body-worn cameras and believe that they meet and exceed the needs of the department.

The police department will also refresh its in-car video camera systems to work with the new body-worn cameras. The contract with WatchGuard includes one hundred (100) body-worn cameras with five (5) spare body worn cameras, fifty seven (57) in-car video camera systems, docking / charging stations, wireless data transfer equipment, redaction hardware and software, servers, hard drives, software and licensing.

The City of Allen will purchase Enforcement Video, LLC d/b/a WatchGuard Video product through an Interlocal Agreement with the Texas Department of Information Resources, Contract  DIR-TSO-3371, contract term end date 12/22/2017 and Contract DIR-TSO-2556, contract term end date 5/9/2018.

BUDGETARY IMPACT

The purchase of the WatchGuard Videos System (body-worn cameras and in-car video systems) will funded through several sources including law enforcement grant funds, police asset forfeitures and Bond Funds (GO Bonds, Series 2010).
