ACTION PROPOSED:

Authorize the City Manager to Purchase Twenty-Four (24) Vehicles and Four (4) Equipment Replacements for Various Departments from Silsbee Ford, Sterling McCall Ford, Caldwell County Chevrolet, Reliable Chevrolet, Siddons-Martin, CUES Camera Equipment, John Deere, Landmark, and Vermeer through the H-GAC, Tarrant County, and Buyboard Cooperative Purchasing Agreements in the Amount of $2,402,501.




BACKGROUND

The Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Fund Committee recommended the purchase of twenty-two (22) vehicles and four (4) pieces of equipment to replace existing vehicles and equipment that have reached the end of their service life. Those purchases will be funded through the Replacement Fund.

 

Through the budget process, one (1) additional vehicle was identified as a need in the Engineering Department and one (1) additional vehicle was identified as a need in the Water and Sewer Fund. Those vehicles will be funded through the appropriate departmental operating budgets.

 

The replacements include a Fire Engine at $692,000 and two Ambulances at $234,466.64 each, which represents approximately half of the total cost of the vehicle purchases.

 

All items are included in the approved Fiscal Year 2016-2017 budget. The attached summary shows the details regarding the type of vehicles and equipment included in this purchase.


BUDGETARY IMPACT

Funding for these purchases has been budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2016-2017 Vehicle Replacement Fund, Police, Parks and Recreation, Fire, Community Services, Drainage and Water and Sewer Funds.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends authorizing the City Manager to purchase twenty-four (24) vehicles and four (4) equipment replacements for various departments from Silsbee Ford, Sterling McCall Ford, Caldwell County Chevrolet, Reliable Chevrolet, Siddons-Martin, CUES Camera Equipment, John Deere, Landmark, and Vermeer through the H-GAC, Tarrant County, and Buyboard Cooperative Purchasing Agreements in the Amount of $2,402,501.

I make a motion to authorize the City Manager to purchase twenty-four (24) vehicles and four (4) equipment replacements for various departments from Silsbee Ford, Sterling McCall Ford, Caldwell County Chevrolet, Reliable Chevrolet, Siddons-Martin, CUES Camera Equipment, John Deere, Landmark, and Vermeer through the H-GAC, Tarrant County, and Buyboard Cooperative Purchasing Agreements in the Amount of $2,402,501.
