| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
Section 2051.049 of the Texas Government Code provides that the City Council shall select one or more newspapers to publish notices. The City of Allen has contracted with The Allen American as its official newspaper since 1982.

| | | | | | | | BUDGETARY IMPACT
The Allen American has proposed a rate of $6.00 per column inch for legal notices. This rate remains unchanged from the last fiscal year.

| | | | | | | | STAFF RECOMMENDATION
City Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a Resolution designating The Allen American as the official newspaper for Fiscal Year 2016-2017 in order to meet the requirements of State Law.
