Assistant Fire Chief David Cannaday, the City's Emergency Management Manager, recently collaborated with the North Central Texas Council of Governments and representatives from Collin County to update the existing 2011 multi-jurisdiction local mitigation strategy. This plan is designed to reduce the potential losses from recurring catastrophic events (i.e. floods, tornadoes, etc.) and aid Allen in qualifying for federal grants related to hazard mitigation.
The final step of the approval process is for the local jurisdiction to formally adopt the strategy via a resolution.
Please see the attached executive summary for more details on the plan updates. A complete copy of the Hazard Mitigation Action Plan can be obtained through the City Secretary's Office.
