Award Bid and Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract with Vulcan Signs to Provide Street Sign Blades, Sign Blanks, Stop Signs, and Sign Posts with Four Optional One-Year Renewals for an Annual Amount of $70,000.

ACTION PROPOSED:

Award Bid and Authorize the City Manager to Execute a Contract with Vulcan Signs to Provide Street Sign Blades, Sign Blanks, Stop Signs, and Sign Posts with Four Optional One-Year Renewals for an Annual Amount of $70,000.




BACKGROUND

Each year the City budgets to replace existing and install new signage where deemed necessary as part of our maintenance program. Staff solicited bids for Street Sign Blades, Sign Blanks, Stop Signs, and Sign Posts on June 16, 2016. A total of 180 suppliers were invited and a total of 2 bid responses were received by Purchasing.

 

Annual Contract recommendation is to Vulcan Signs for an overall complete bid response and straight low bid.


BUDGETARY IMPACT

Funding is through the traffic signal, street light, & street sign maintenance operating budget.


STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council award bid and authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Vulcan Signs to provide Street Sign Blades, Sign Blanks, Stop Signs, and Sign Posts with four optional one-year renewals for an annual amount of $70,000.
