Trail construction is an ongoing project in the City of Allen. This particular segment is a part of the Six Cities Trail and was originally the responsibility of Cumberland Crossing Phase V, but responsibility was transferred to the City of Allen with the dedication of 6.74 acres of 100 year flood plain through a facilities agreement. $115,000 in Collin County Parks and Open Space grant funding has been secured to assist in the construction of this trail segment. This segment will connect to existing trail in Cumberland Crossing, the Exchange Parkway Trail and the Six Cities Trail corridor along Rowlett Creek.

On July 24, 2014, bids were received for the construction of Rowlett Creek Trail Connection at Cumberland Crossing Phase V, which identifies VA Construction, Inc. as the lowest qualified bid. The table below summarizes the seven (7) bids received for this work:
