On July 22, 2014, City Council set Tuesday, August 12, 2014, and Tuesday, August 26, 2014, as the Public Hearing dates regarding the City Budget.

Conduct a Public Hearing on the Fiscal Year 2014-2015 City Budget as Required by Article IV, Section 4.04 of the Allen City Charter.

The City Charter requires that the City Council set and conduct a Public Hearing on the Budget. This year, the City will hold two public hearings to coincide with the two public hearings that are to be held on the tax rate. August 12, 2014, and August 26, 2014, are the dates Council set for the public hearings on the budget. The City Charter mandates that no other business may be conducted at these hearings. As stated in the City Charter, a Notice of Public Hearing on the Budget must be published 5-15 days prior to the hearing. The notice for the first public hearing was published on July 31, 2014 in the Allen American newspaper, and the notice for the second public hearing was published on August 14, 2014 in the Allen American newspaper.

The FY 2014-2015 Proposed Expenditure Budget totals $184,845,662 for all funds.

The FY 2014-2015 Proposed Revenue Estimate plus beginning Fund Balance totals $255,616,092 for all funds.

Staff recommends conducting a public hearing and announcing that the City Council will vote on the budget at the September 9, 2014, City Council meeting at 7:00 PM at Allen City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas.
